In 2007, legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog and cinematographer Peter Zeitlinger traveled to Antarctica's McMurdo Station for the documentary "Encounters at the End of the World."
Near the end of the film, Herzog interviews penguin scientist Dr. David Ainley about penguin psychology and mental illness. What he captured next became one of the most viral moments in documentary history.
"And then there was this one penguin. A deranged penguin. Heading toward the mountains, some 70 kilometers away..."
